A few weeks back, a friend of mine offered to be my makeup mule and carry some makeup home from the US for me, so I seized the opportunity to order some more Makeup Geek eyeshadows given my fabulous relationship with the Starter Kit (full review and swatches of the Starter Kit available here). I ordered 15 shadows in total- 10 from the regular line and 5 from the new Foiled Eyeshadow line. The regular eyeshadows are $5.99 a piece and the Foiled Eyeshadows are $9.99 a piece and when I ordered from US to be delivered to US, I did not have to pay any customs charges. You probably know by now that Makeup Geek orders almost always attract customs charges- I don't know how many times I've heard of people getting caught out when ordering from this website in particular. That's not the fault of the company at all, but it's just worth bearing in mind when making your order. Keep your orders small (under €30/40) to avoid having to fork out any more cash to the postman (I stand to be corrected but I think it's a €7 admin fee plus 20% of the cost of the goods and postage and packaging) so if you order €50 worth of products, you would face a potential customs charge of €17! So I indebted to my friend Sinead for kindly bringing these home in one piece to me!
The Foiled Eyeshadows are amongst the newest additions to the Makeup Geek line, but as I already mentioned, given that they cost $9.99 a piece, I didn't place an order earlier as I would have only been able to order 3 without incurring any of those bugging customs charges. I've seen loads of hype on Youtube about these- I have to say, I love the look of the neutral ones but the pastel metallic shades didn't appeal to me at all. I've tried a few of these and I've mixed feelings so far but I'm taking my time to really put these through their paces before officially reporting back so keep an eye out.
I also took the opportunities to pick up some new regular line eyeshadows. I am blown away by the pigmentation and lasting power of my other Makeup Geek eyeshadows so I picked up some more neutral shades that I know I will get so much use out of. These have all been on my shopping list for quite a while now already so I finally succumbed! I've been using all of these over the last 10 odd days and, I don't say this lightly, it is love. These are fantastic shadows.
I also picked up a new Z palette from Beauty Bay to house my lovely new shadows in and I have space for 12 more shadows so expect another few orders in the coming weeks. Either way, I hope the swatches above give you a taste of the colours available in case you too are inspired to make a purchase in the not too distant future!
