If a picture really is worth 1,000 words, then I should have made it pretty clear already that I am obsessed with the Essence Lip Liner in 06 Satin Mauve, which is meant to be a dupe for Kylie Jenner's fave MAC lip liner, Soar. I'm all about the mauves and dusty, smoky pinks and this offering from one of my favourite high street brands is just exquisite. Aside from the beautiful smoky colour- which reminds me alot of my all time favourite lipstick ever in Anna from the Nars Audacious Collection- this pencil is so creamy, so soft, so pigmented, and it just lasts and lasts.
I've already mentioned that I have been relying on lip liners these last few months because a cold sore patch has left the bottom contour of my lip looking a little messy and uneven and I need the precise definition of a pencil that does not budge under pressure to keep my lips in place. I love the Essence lip liners anyway but this colour has honestly just turned my head so bad that I picked up about 10 over the last few months in case Essence discontinue it any time soon. I only stockpile the things I really, really love.
I wear this on it's own all over the lips or with a lip gloss or lipstick if I feel so inclined. This would be perfect for overdrawing your lips if you were so inclined but as I feel like I have enough in the lip department to keep me going, I don't necessarily feel the need to go there a la Miss Jenner, and this lipliner makes my lips feel soft and full enough as they are. This holds up amazingly well, and surprisingly, is not as drying as I thought it might be. It feels creamy enough that you don't really feel it there but not so creamy that you have to be worried it will melt down your face over the course of a day. It also sharpens incredibly easily without wasting too much product which means you will get great value for your sheckles...
And, speaking of sheckles, have I mentioned yet that this gorgeous, quality lip pencil will set you back a measly €1.29? I mean, how can you NOT try it at that price? Honestly, I cannot even believe or convey how much of a steal that is. Essence keeps churning out the quality goods for such little monies- I've said it before and I will say it again, they are amongst my favourite high street makeup brands.
Have you tried this lip liner yet or do you think you might be persuaded to give it a go? Keep me posted!
