So any guys and gals amongst us living in Ireland or the UK will be familiar with the sight of the No 7 vouchers which Boots seem to give out every second month. I think you get a voucher if you spend €7.50 on anything in Boots. Back in the day, they used to give out €7.50 vouchers which could be spent on either makeup OR skincare but now they have reinvented their voucher system and offer €6.50 off skincare and €4 off makeup. No 7 is a brand I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with- I like their products, but I don't love the brand. For what it is, I feel like it's a bit overpriced, so the vouchers just make it more normal. Now I have tried some real gems from No 7 and I'm going to do an oh-so-quick flint through my highs and lows in case you're planning on popping into town to spend your vouchers. ALSO Boots run other offers at the same time as the vouchers- the No 7 Skincare line is currently on 3 for 2 across the board and the Makeup is buy one get one half price. So by stacking your offers and vouchers, you can pick up quite a bit for a reasonable price!
The Soft & Soothed Gentle Cleanser / Gentle Toner are absolutely non-offensive skincare products and are pretty much your ordinary bog standard cleanser and toner. I first bought these YEARS ago and used them up, repurchased them last year and to be honest, they've just been gathering dust since. They are €10.50 a piece so you can get them for €4 each with the voucher which is about the same price as any other bog standard cleanser and toner from the skincare aisle!
A skincare product that I do love and repurchase time and time again is the Beautiful Skin Hot Cloth Cleanser, which comes with a muslin cloth. This is a lovely gentle hot cloth cleanser that just gently strips away every trace of dirt on your face and leaves it feeling really clean and polished. This is €12.95 before the voucher so €6.45 afterwards and that little price is quite bargainous for the product you are getting!
The Beautiful Skin Melting Gel Cleanser was a bit of a gimmicky product that I allowed myself to be talked into purchasing by a sales assistant a little while ago. In my defence she did a demo on her hand where she applied the gel, squirted on some Ballygowan and the gel went milky. I duly purchased because I felt bad that she went to all that effort, and this is one product that I have just never really clicked with. I always reach for something else, never for this. €11.75 this would cost you without a voucher but just €5.25 with a voucher- so if you feel like you might be impressed with such a magical gel to milk substance, fling your vouchers towards this!
Quite recently I picked up the Foaming Cleanser to use to wash any traces of the balms or oils that I have been favouring to remove my makeup these days. I usually don't pick up things for Normal/Oily skin, but I never found any No 7 products to be particularly oil battling or even hydrating for that matter (take from that what you will). I have never used any of these liquid to foam cleansers before and this was only €5.25 after using my voucher (normal price €11.75). It's ok, like most No 7 stuff, I don't hate it, don't love it- it's just ok.
Again, the Make Up Brush Cleanser was another relatively recent addition to my No 7 army, and I got this to spot clean some of my brushes when I don't have time to deep clean them. (I have ALOT of brushes so I never really run out!). I was hoping this would be comparable to the MAC Brush Cleanser but it's not, it smells quite alcoholic and isn't the most gentle cleansing method to use on my beloved makeup brushes. It's only ok, wouldn't tell any of ye to rush out and buy it to be frank! €10.50 without voucher and because this is classed as makeup, you can get €4 making it €6.50 without the voucher.
One of the newest products that No 7 have introduced was the Beautiful Skin Cleansing Oil, and this is another one I give a firm thumbs up to. I've been loving oil and balm pre-cleansing for taking off my makeup in the evenings, and this one works a treat! Two pumps in the palm of your hand, rub them together, spread all over your face, rinse off with facecloth- simples. I would definitely repurchase this one because as far as oil cleansers go, this is up there with my favourites. €14.25 pre voucher, only €7.75 without voucher and well worth it!
The Beautiful Skin Radiance Exfoliator and Purifying Exfoliator are always in my shower, I have repurchased these a few times and they are fine. Not too rough on the skin, the actual exfoliating beats are quite round and large in the product and spread nicely on your skin, and it rinses off easily. One of these is usually my choice of face wash in the shower if I have not already applied Hot Cloth Cleanser etc. These are only €4 a piece post discount voucher (€10.50 without voucher).
I am a bit afraid of rough, harsh face scrubs, but I picked up the Total Renewal Micro-dermabrasion Exfoliator because it has had extremely favourable reviews online. I've used this twice, and a week apart at that, and I definitely felt like my skin looked more polished and radiant after using it. I wouldn't use this anymore than weekly on my sensitive skin however, because I did experience a little bit of irritation (nothing too bad) after using this. Not sure yet whether this is something I would repurchase! €14.25 without voucher or €7.75 with.
I've blogged before about the No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush and how I enjoyed using that (€33 without voucher, €26.50 with) and I always make sure to pick up some replacement heads whenever the No 7 voucher promotion comes on. Two replacement heads are just €10.50 so they'll only set you back €4 with the voucher which is bargaintastic I find.
Now onto my makeup picks- and this is going to be a much briefer chat. I don't really get drawn to the No 7 makeup stands to be honest, and when I am in Boots, I always make a beeline for other stands. There are a few beauts that I have come across however.
The No 7 Stay Perfect Lipsticks are definitely worth a look if you're feeling like a new lippie, but I have to say there is no way I would pay full price of €12.75 for this because I find they are just a bit standard. I feel the same about the Precision Lip Pencils, plus I found that five of the six colours were a bit too brown for my liking (€8.75). The mascaras are ok- my favourite of the bunch would be the Lash Adapt, and they have a new range of Stay Perfect Shade and Define eye sticks (€10.50) which are ok in my crease but have to be well blended and powdered to avoid creasing on my eyelids. The Natural Blush Tint Powders are nicely pigmented but there isn't a great shade range available but are only €10.50 each or €6.50 with a voucher which is good value. I didn't really get on with the Instant Radiance Highlighter Chubby Stick thing (€12.95) but I know Karen from LovelyGirlieBits mentioned this in her July favourites vid recently so it's likely you would love it too! The real No 7 Makeup Heroes for me are the foundations and the Instant Illusions Rapid Radiance Balm. The latter is a gorgeous balm that I have been wearing underneath my foundation to give me a more dewy look and I do actually feel like my skin looks more radiant with it and you can use your €6.50 voucher with this one because its considered to be skincare. My foundations sit well over it and it's definitely a product I would recommend trying out. The foundations are great also (I'm sure you all know you can get shade matched with their fancy gadgets in store- I've been matched to Cool Vanilla). I adore the Instant Radiance foundation (€16.25), it would definitely be in my top 10 foundations. The shade is great, the coverage and longevity is great, I've spoken about it before on the blog. I also love the Beautifully Matte foundation (€17.50) (does exactly what it says on the tin) and the Stay Perfect foundation (€18.25) (which has great longevity). I've recently been loving the Stay Perfect Superlight Foundation (€18.95) for my good skin days too. I highly highly recommend you get a sample of the foundation(s) of your choice before the next round of No 7 vouchers comes out and stock up on these.
So that's my two cents worth and hope it might be a bit helpful to you the next time you ask yourself what should I spend my No 7 vouchers on. What do you think of No 7 as a brand? What do you love from No 7 that the rest of us should add to our wishlists? Let me know in the comments below!
