Summer Essentials- The Body Kit

I am just bad at body moisturising. Not as bad as I used to be, granted, but still, not even a quarter as diligent as I am with my face. These last few weeks, I've been exposing myself that little bit more because of the heat, and as a result, my skin has deserved/ needed a little more TLC than I have been giving it. I'm a bit of a floozy when it comes to body moisturisers and my body moisturising routine depends on what mood I am in, what time of the day it is, what the weather is like outside and, perhaps most importantly, how much time I have to apply it. The following are some of the moisturisers that I have had on rotation over the last few months.

Kiehls Creme de Corps- this is probably the most hydrating body moisturiser that I own in my collection and is incredibly rich and nurturing on my skin. I have particular issues with my arms since I got very badly scalded by the sun a few years ago (water blisters, the works) and this is the best moisturiser I have tried to pack some hydration back in that area. This leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft, hydrated and enriched and if you have very dry skin, I have no hesitation in recommending this.

Vaseline Spray & Go - more often than not I am rushing when I get out of the shower- rushing to jump into bed, rushing to get out the door for work, just constantly rushing. When I feel like my skin needs a little hydration boost but I am a bit pressed for time, I use my Vaseline Spray & Go. I really like this, the mist is very fine, it's not messy, straighforward to use and the nozzle works even when upside down so spraying yourself is a doddle. This also smells really nice!

Garnier Intensive 7 Days- again, this is another intensive body moisturiser that I use to pump some hydration into my skin. I've had this bottle on the go for a long time and I can't seem to get to the end of it, making it good bang for your buck, particularly because this is permanently half price in at least three pharmacies or supermarkets at any given time, meaning you can pick it up for little over 2 euro! It doesn't smell particularly strong/ offensive/ of anything so if you have a delicate nose you are unlikely to be too traumatised.

Nivea In Shower Body Moisturiser Skin Conditioner is for those days where I barely have time to shower, never mind engage in a moisturising routine (and there are far too many of those days for my liking at present!). I apply this generously in the shower and hope that's it's going to do enough to keep my skin hydrated. It smells nice and I am grateful to have a dual-purpose product on hand for those days where there are just not enough minutes in the day.

Ziaja Orange Butter Body Butter- I like to use this when I have a bit of time to chillax and enjoy a pampering session. It's a gorgeous thick butter, not greasy, and is scented of orange so it takes me to a tropical, happy, citrus-y place when I use it, particularly uplifting given the time of year.

The Body Shop Shea Body Butter is an old favourite of mine, and it is a close competition for my affection with the Coconut Body Butter which I have loved and adored for about 10 years now. It smells gorgeous and unlike the Ziaja butter above, I love to use this after an evening shower and jump into my bed and just bask in the glorious smell. This is a thick rich cream that does take a minute to sink in but it does not feel oily or greasy, it feels nourishing. I often use this after going at my skin with the Shea Scrub from the Body Shop and the two together just leave my skin feeling amazing.

So those are my summer body essentials and what I've been wearing (besides my clothes!). Have you tried any of the above or are you curious about any of them?

  1. I have yet to try that Nivea In shower product - I usually love Nivea products so don't know why I have resisted for so long. Will have to pick it up next time I'm in Boots!

  2. Great picks, I'm a big fan of the kiehls, the body shop body butter and the garnier. Really interested in trying out the nivea in shower one- I'm using a lush in shower one at the moment which I love but I think I'll try that next!

Thanks for your comment, I love to hear what you all have to say!
