I have spoken out many a time before about how myself and the world's no.1 selling mascara, Benefit They're Real, never really got on. I've even blogged about it before, citing how the wand hurt my eyes with all it's spiky bits, and how I didn't love the wet formula etc. Either way, the alleged world's greatest mascara was not for me! So when I heard all this hype and commotion about the Benefit They're Real Push Up Liner, I again was intrigued, but perhaps a little skeptical given my experience with it's sister mascara, but when it launched late last week, I hotfooted it over to Harvey Nichols to see what the hype was about and the lovely Benefit makeup artist Audrey very kindly applied some and then I just knew that I had to try one out myself! The fact I was treated to a glass of sneaky Prosecco was not even a swaying factor.
Now getting a product applied by the pros is one thing but doing it yourself from the comfort of your own home is quite another. I love gel eyeliner anyways but I am hideously bad at applying it that I often just opt for a pencil or felt tip eyeliner pen instead. You know yourself ladies, once you mess up your gel eyeliner, the whole lot of your eyemakeup comes off in your attempts to fix it. What makes this Benefit invention so special is that not only is it a gel eyeliner in push up format, but it has a unique Accuflex tip which is a flexible but sturdy material that will glide and hug your lashline, and believe me when I tell you, the shape of the tip is incredibly easy to glide along your lashline and I am as nervous as a cat with a long tail in a room full of rocking chairs when it comes to applying anything near my unbearably sensitive eyes.
The actual pen is very neat and tidy and fits nice and ergonomically in your hand which pleases me greatly, and you get the product out by twisting the top of the pen. Now, in the last four days I have been using this, I have had no bad experiences with too much product coming out or the likes, so I don't know how this pen knows how to distribute the exact right amount of product, but it does, it just knows how to do it.
The product applies completely matte black and it does not fade over the course of the day, which, coupled with the fact that Benefit have released a They're Real makeup remover to coincide with the launch of the new liner, made me think that this was gonna be one hard puppy to take off in the evenings. Now I didn't purchase the remover because I definitely think that's gimmicky but what I did use and what worked perfectly was the L'Oreal 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil, so if you're looking for a great stubborn eye makeup remover, I definitely recommend that!
This is one seriously smart piece of kit and even though I usually think Benefit products can veer on the gimmicky a smidge, this is just awesome and has been a game changer for me. Have you tried this out yet or is it the kind of thing that would even interest you?
