My Nominations- the Awards 2014

Having taken a couple of minutes out of my bank holiday Monday to complete my nominations list for the Awards, I thought I would share my nomination list with you- firstly, to see if I actually can pick a product that will be nominated, and secondly, to see if any of my favourite products will be crowned leaders in their respective categories. is one of my favourite beauty hotspots on the interweb, I pretty much hit the site up on a daily basis to check for new material. I feel like this exercise is a helpful one to remind myself of how much I love and rate certain products- kind of like a 2014 favourites (so far). You can access the survey yourselves if you would like to take part by clicking this link and you have until May 11th to nominate your favourite products. So without further ado, let's get cracking!

Best Foundation - It's the very first question, and it stumped me. I'm going to pick the one single foundation that has completely blown me away since I picked it up months ago- the Max Factor Facefinity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation. I blogged about it already and you can read about that here but suffice to say, I am just so so impressed from this drugstore foundation. I own ALOT of foundations so to have a drugstore one pipping the others at the post is no mean feat. I've said it before- if you have not tried this already, you must be mad! PLUS it gets extra points for being a 3 in 1 and a timesaver!

Best Powder - NARS Light Reflecting Pressed Powder in Translucent- I just love the soft focus finish this gives to the skin- and I find it hard to explain what it actually does, it's magic! I apply over my foundation once I have applied it and it just completely smooths ever, fills in any small lines and just provides a lovely finish.

Best Concealer/Concealing Highlighter - I also have a not inconsiderable amount of concealers but the one I go back to time and time again is the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer wand. I prefer this to my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and any other wand concealers I own. The coverage is great, the lasting power is great and what is really, really great is that this will only cost you €6 odd euro. Honestly, it's a gift. I use two shades- 1 Fair and 2 Cool Medium- on a daily basis and I love this stuff.

Best BB/CC/tinted moisturiser - I don't like BB/ CC anythings as a rule and I have said before also that I am BB allergic- however, one CC cream won me over- the Bourjois 123 Stay Perfect CC Cream- and again, I have a full review of it already on the blog which you can read by clicking here. I favour this on days when I don't want to full coverage of a foundation, but I want some sort of coverage on my face. I'm actually close to repurchasing this and I never say that about CC creams.

Best Bronzer - If I was cheating, I would say NARS Laguna, but I've only owned it for about a fortnight. I absolutely love the stuff, the shade of bronze is quite flattering on my pale skin, and it gives a lovely, radiant sunkissed glow. Other honourable mentions include the Body Shop Honey Bronzer in Light, which I use mostly in the winter months because it is a deliciously pale bronzer, perfect for slightly taking the blue tone out of warming up my face.

Best Blusher - again, this question is killing me because I have millions of blushes that I absolutely love. I'm going to go with MAC Blushbaby because I have worn it so much over the last 2 months- I've blogged about it already and included pictures so click here for a looky and see what you think. Other honourable mentions have to include my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure, NARS Deep Throat and the Balm Down Boy.

Best Primer - I would have to nominate Benefit's 'The Porefessional' for this accolade, mostly because it is one of the few primers I have tried and liked. I don't love it really, but I think it does a good job at keeping shine at bay and improving the longevity of your makeup on your face.

Best Lipstick - This question nearly killed me. I love my lipsticks and I love them for different reasons. My favourite lipsticks have to be MAC lipsticks- for the most part, I find them comfortable to wear, and they have a great shade range. For the last few months- I have been favouring the Lustre finish lipsticks- particularly See Sheer. It feels incredibly comfortable on the lips and is not drying at all. It's easy to build up the opacity and the lasting power is decent also. I feel so disloyal to all the other lip lovelies I own. Honourable mentions to the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and the Essence Long Lasting Lipsticks.

Best Mascara - This is a hard question for me, and not because I love so many mascaras, but because I find it quite difficult to come across a good mascara. As a rule, I generally don't like to fork out for high end mascaras because I typically use mascaras for about 6 weeks/ 2 months before turning it off. My accolade is going to Max Factor Clump Defy mascara- I really like the wand and I think this mascara performs exceptionally well for a drugstore mascara. I also love the Urban Decay Supercurl Mascara which I blogged about already- check out the comparison to Benefit 'They're Real' here- it's all in the wand.

Best Brow Product - I honestly cannot answer this question because I do nothing with my brows. I've never really had to and I don't intend starting. I'll vote my proxy though and my 16 year old bushy eyebrowed sister swears by the Essence Clear Brow Gel for keeping her wild eyebrows somewhat tame(r).

Best Eyeshadow Brand - For quality, pigmentation, lasting power, selection of colours and blendability, it has to be Inglot eyeshadows. I have hundreds of the buggers by now and I love them all. I love the Freedom System Palettes for many reasons- portabilty, changeability, durability. I love the various finishes of the eyeshadows and if I am looking for new eyeshadows, the Inglot counter is going to be my first port of call.

Best Day Moisturiser - Ziaja Sensitive Day Cream is a fantastic day cream that only came into my life a few months ago but I have been wearing it daily since. I've blogged about this range before (click here) and this day cream ticks all the boxes for me- non greasy, does not aggravate or dry out my sensitive skin and is a perfect make up base.

Best Night Moisturiser - Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse Nuit is my go-to night cream. It smells divine, it
leaves my skin feeling really soft and hydrated.

Best Lip Balm - Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm is a winner for me. Thick, creamy, matte, incredibly moisturising on it's own or great as a makeup base. As a lip treatment, I highly recommend the Cicaplast Baume B5 (not the lips/levres version).

Best Eye Cream - Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream- it's really moisturising, not scented or greasy, does not aggravate my eyes and a little pot of this will last you a year.

Best Face Mask - Ziaja Enzyme Peeling Mask- again I have reviewed this on the blog (click here to read). I have compared this to my REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal mask, and I much prefer the Ziaja offering. This makes me skin all new and fresh again, and it's perfect for sensitive skinned gals too!

Best Exfoliator - Origins Modern Friction is a really thorough exfoliating scrub and I quite enjoy using it. I only use it once every couple of weeks because I do find that it is quite abrasive on the skin but it is a great facial exfoliator.

Best Pore Unblocker - Soap and Glory No Clogs Allowed Deep Pore Cleanser has to get my vote in this category- self heating technology means that this mask applies cool to your face but heats up over a couple of minutes. You can read my thoughts on it by clicking through to the post on the blog.

Best Cleanser - Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish- I love this and use this every other night. It's gentle but effective, it smells nice and it actually leaves my skin shining (and not in the greasy manner).

Best Toner - Liz Earle Skin Tonic- I use this twice a day- once in the morning before I apply my day cream, and once in the night when I have already precleansed my face and I want to make sure it's 100% clean and makeup free, just before I apply my night time potions.

Best Serum/Facial Oil - Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate- I use this once or twice a week in the place of night cream, and I love the effect. Ok I look like a greasy monkey going to bed, but it's worth it when I wake up fresh faced the next morning. Also, a bottle of this lasts forever. There is a reason this is Kiehls #1 top selling product.

Best Facial SPF - La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Fluid SPF 50+ is the gentlest, most effective SPF lotion that I have tried and I could not stray from it at this stage.

Best Eye Makeup Remover - I have to nominate the L'Oreal Skin Perfection 15 Second Miracle Cleansing Oil. I was appalled at first at the thought of using an oil to break down my makeup, particularly my eye makeup. I love to use this in the evenings as a precleanse to take off the most of my makeup. Couple of squirts in my hands, rub it along my face, take off my makeup with a warm muslin cloth with absolutely minimal effort and tugging at my unbearably sensitive eyes.

Best Body Cream/ Lotion - I have had a jar of the The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter on the go since I was about 17, so that is getting my vote. I love coconut smelling things and this body butter not only leaves my skin soft and smooth, it makes me feel like I've been hanging out on a tropical paradise island.

Best Body Scrub - Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff is the best exfoliating body scrub I have tried in a very long time, and have really helped my false tanning endeavours. I use this on my elbows and knees especially before I apply any false tan.

Best Shower Gel/ Body Wash - Rituals Yogi Flow Shower Foam is one of my favourite luxury treats to use when I am in the shower. It smells of Indian rose and sweet almond oil and the smell lingers with you long after you get out of the shower.

Best Hand Cream - Ziaja Ceramides Lipid Hand Cream is absolutely fantastic and I have dry, chapped hands- I've explained my love for it already here.

Best Foot Cream - No preference- never bother with foot creams!

Best False Tan - Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan- again, I have explained how much this has changed my tanning radar in this post. From a complete fake tan hater to a Cocoa Brown convert, I completely credit the original Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan for changing my mind.

Best Body SPF -  La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Fluid SPF 50+ is my go-to sun protection because I am all about applying the highest sun protection factor possible.

Best Hair Removal - Wilkinson Sword Intuition Razor- this is not glamorous but it does the trick. I don't think I can say much more than that!

Best Deodorant - Mitchum Powder Fresh Invisible Solid- gentle, effective, does not stain clothes and smells like baby powder!

Best Fragrance - Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche- I can't say anymore about this that I haven't already said in this post.

Best Shampoo - Kerastase Bain de Force- cleans my hair but leaves it feeling stronger after washing, I notice way less breakage when I use this set.

Best Conditioner - Kerastase Anti-Ciment Usure compliments the shampoo perfectly- both are from the Resistance range. This conditioner is not a deep conditioner per se but it's one of the only conditioners that allow me to run my fingers through my hair from root to tip in the shower.

Best Deep Conditioner - Marie Reynolds London Lush Locks candle- the best conditioning treatment I have tried. I burn the candle for a couple of minutes, blow it out, poor wax onto my hands and then rub this along the ends of my hair, leave it in for about an hour or so and rinse it out and my locks are left, well, lush!

Best Hair Oil/ Serum - Kerastase Elixir Ultime is more expensive than the other oils on the market but it's a gift of a product. I use this after washing my hair to lock in moisture, after straigtening for shine or before curling to keep the curl tidy.

Best Anti-Frizz/Shine - Kerastase Chroma Thermique- I apply this lotion to wet hair before blowdrying and it takes the hassle out of styling my hair afterwards without weighing it down.

Best for Volume - Charles Worthington Volume and Bounce Texturising Spray- smells nice, not sticky on the hair and provides volume and bounce as promised.

Best Home Hair Colour - Don't colour my hair myself!

Best Styling Product - (gel, mousse, wax, serum, hairspray etc.) L'Oreal Elnett hairspray- great hold but does not look artificial or change the colour of my hair. Washes out easily, doesn't smell offensive and a can lasts ages.

Best Hair Electrical Product - GHD all the way! I am probably on my sixth set by now.

Best Highlighter/Luminizer - I never bothered with highlighters really but when I tried the Balm Mary Lou Manizer, it was love at first sight. I've had to repurchase it since because of an unfortunate incident involving a vertical drop and a

Best Nail Polish Brand - Essie. I like the shades available, I like the limited edition sets that come out every few months, I like the formula, and when topped with Seche Vite, I like how these last.

So those are my picks- looking forward to seeing the shortlist and what the eventual winners are. Would you vote for any of the products I shortlisted? What products do you think will win the crown?
