Saturday Night Face- Smoky with a pop of Pink!

So today is Saturday and I am hitting the town in Cork tonight with some friends. I don't know if any of the rest of you guys are as organised as I am on a night out- I like to put all my makeup out in front of me so I can lay my hands on everything quickly on the rush to get out (yes I am aware that there is an ongoing them on this blog about rushing out the door- but anything to have an extra few minutes in bed in the morning or an extra few minutes in the shower before a night out!)

Tonight I am amping it up a bit and introducing a bit of colour into my usually very neutral preferences. I am wearing all black (for a change!) so I decided to add a pop of colour in the form of my NYC Expert Last Lip Color in 'Blue Rose'. This is my current favourite fuchsia. I have also laid out my Nuxe Lip Balm because I think this is an amazing mattifying and nourishing base to wear under lipstick on a night out, and I find it helps the colour both stay on my lips and not cling to any chapped-ness.

As for base, I think I will be out for the night tonight so I will be needing my Make Up For Ever HD Primer. I don't really think this is anything special (not a huge MUFE fan) but it is the one I have on the go at the moment and it does the job nicely. I will apply the pink shade from my Catrice Allround Concealer palette under my eyes to neutralise any bags, and top it up with a little bit of the lightest colour just to add some light under my eyes. I conceal any blemishes with my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the shade 10. Foundation wise, I am loving Estee Lauder's Double Wear at the moment, I think it gives amazing coverage and it feels really nice on the skin. Because I will be out for the night and it will probably get quite hot, I will set my foundation with my MAC Studio Fix Powder to prevent any unwanted shine. To contour, I will turn to my trusty Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel and to highlight, I have opted for my Yves St Laurent Touche Eclat- I love the combination of these two for glamorous nighttime looks.

Cheeks wise, I am keeping it pretty simple and applying one of my all time favourite blushes, NARS Deep Throat, this colour just goes with anything, and I feel like it is sufficiently sheer to suit my lipstick and eye makeup choices.

Speaking of eye makeup, I am going to use my Maybelline Color Tattoo in Immortal Charcoal as my eyeshadow base, and build up some pale, matte colour on my lids using my Soap & Glory Smokey Dokey palette. Because I am heading out tonight, I am going to smoke my eye up a smidge with my Urban Decay Smoked palette and use the matte black eyeshadow in Blackout to line where I will put my Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink. For lashes, I love the ELF Natural Lash Kit in Black because I think they give really nice length and definition. I usually cut these down to size and apply them to my outer corners. I'll thrown on a bit of my current HG mascara, Urban Decay Supercurl Curling Mascara to blend my lashes with the falsies.

Finally, when I have plastered on all of that, I will run a little bit of MAC Soft & Gentle over my cheekbones to add a little bitta sumthin' special for a Saturday night, and now all I have to do is get dressed and hit the town!

  1. This sounds like some fabulous ingredients towards a fabulous face! Sure you looked stunning heading out tonight:)
