Brand Highlight- Origins

Today's SBBC post obliges me to talk about a particular brand and how I have found their products so far, and what I would still like to try. Skincare is something that I am really researching at the minute so I thought I would deviate from my usual cosmetics posts and talk about some skincare products that I have been lurving at the moment.

Origins is skincare brand that I had wanted to try out for the longest time. I researched online, thought about what would suit my skintype, and what problem areas I needed to address. I finally bit the bullet and purchased some items in Boots in Liffey Valley over a month ago, and I have been using the products steadily since. I by no means have a vast collection of products yet, but I am so impressed by what I have purchased so far that I will definitely do my research and see what else would suit my skin.

Origins pride themselves on high performance natural skincare that is both powered by nature and proven by science, and use plant extracts and natural essential oils in their formulations. On their website (www.origins.com), they have a little skincare advisor where you can upload your photo and assess your skin type online, and they will recommend the products that they think would be best. I think that this is a nice touch for people who are still learning about skincare like I am myself.

The first thing of note is their 'GinZing' Refreshing Eye Cream. I picked this up because I needed a new eyecream and I swear when I swatched this on my hand in the store, my skin tingled a little, like magic! And so I was suckered in!
It promises to brighten and depuff. Now whatever about the depuffing (my eyes haven't puffed in a while so I can't really give a concrete opinion on that), this cream certainly brightens, and I like to use this first thing every morning with my moisturiser before I put on any concealer. Some days, I even feel like I can get away without using concealer under my eyes, so that must definitely be a good sign.
It feels really nice, not oily, and sinks into my delicate undereye skin quickly with absolutely no irritation (my eyes are severely sensitive).
There is a little bit of a shimmer to this which I don't really mind. I also mix a little of this with concealer if I feel like my undereyes are particularly dry looking and it works a treat.
Overall, I don't love it as much as my HG eye cream which is the Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream (but I really love that a lot). I'm not sure whether I will repurchase this or not, I use it every morning and I cannot seem to make a dent in it because a little goes a long long way, but I am more than happy to use this up.
I really like this, and I am looking forward to continuing to use it.

I also have two masks and an exfoliating scrub from the line also. I was very eager to try out their masks because I had heard so much about them over the last few years from various blogs and Youtubers.

Origins 'Clear Improvement' is an active charcoal mask to clear pores. I love this mask and I use this once or twice a week depending on how clogged I think my pores are.
It smells charcoal-y, there is no denying that, but I don't find it offensive or offputting.
It is a really thick shiny grey thick cream like substance and as it dries on your face, it becomes more mattified and lighter in colour.
Depending on how much you lather on your face, your facial movements are not overly restrictive, and this is also nice and easy to remove (I use a muslin cloth and warm water).
My skin feels absolutely amazing after using these- my pores are so incredibly clean and clear and my face just feels spotless (you know that lovely spotlessly clean face feeling- oh yes).
What's more, because of my awkward combination dehydrated/oily skin, I was worried this would zap or stick to my dry patches, but it does not cause them any irritation at all.
The mask contains activated charcoal, white china clay and lecithin to remove all the stuff clogging your skin and claims to help your skin 'breath a sigh of relief'.
I'll definitely repurchase this and use it a few times a week to keep my pores nice and clean, and if you are looking for something to remove all the environmental toxins, dirt and other skin pollution from your pores, this is definitely one to have in your skincare armory.

Origins 'Drink Up Intensive' has been a godsend for my dry patches. I had been wanting to try this for the longest time. I put a layer of this on my freshly washed and exfoliated face before bed once or twice a week, wake up in the morning, rinse my face and hey presto, I have hydrated skin. My skin literally does drink this up, it's uncanny.
The thought of this working it's hydrating magic on my skin overnight makes me feel really gleeful- it's like Origins know that I love multitasking, and what's better than looking after your skin whilst you sleep.
It has a smell but that fades a bit as the time passes. I usually apply a layer of this to my face and let it sink in before I hit the pillow, and I haven't noticed any pillow residue in the time that I have been using this.
Ironically though, even though it feels very comfortable and not greasy or sticky on the face, I find that my hands feel very sticking after using this and I can never wash them quickly enough.
I apply this to all parts of my face and whilst it hydrates my dry patches, it doesn't make my oily patches any oilier.
This mask contains apricot kernel oil, avocado and Japanese seaweed to conquer dehydration and repair skins barriers and tackling premature aging. If you have dry skin or dry patches, definitely try this mask out!

Origins Modern Friction is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best facial exfoliating scrub I have ever used. Rice starch, lemon oil and aloe all combine to effectively remove dead skin cells without causing any inflammation or irritation to the skin.
Origins call this product 'nature's gentle dermabrasion' but don't be fooled into thinking that because it is natural and gentle, it will be ineffective. My skin has never felt so polished as it does with this scrub. This scrub gently goes about doing its business but it is a great result. I will 100% use this again.

Other Origins products that I will be picking up include:
Origins Make a Difference + Treatment and Moisturiser

Origins Make a Difference + Skin Rejuvenating Treatment Lotion

So that's all from me today, If you have tried any of these Origins products, let me know, and definitely tell me if you have tried a product which I haven't mentioned but I need to have in my life, comment below!
