No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush - review

Hi everybody,

I have a bit of a different review for you today. I was in Boots earlier in the week and I spotted this No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Brush on a new display stand. I never got around to getting a Clarisonic because I was not quite sure if it was for me, but this seemed like an attractive alternative (all for the very nice introductory price of €20). I've been quite impressed with No 7 in recent months after a number of hit purchases, so I had high hopes of this!

The brush head is a nice size and the bristles are nice and soft. They are quite densely packed but not stiff which is obviously hugely important considering you will be using this on your face. The brush ergonomically fits into my hand and is very easy to manoeuvre around the contours of my face, it is a nice weight and feels quite sturdy. It is battery operated (2 x AA batteries) and has two speeds- fast and faster- depending on what you prefer. I generally use the slower of the two first, then a round of the faster one, and then a wind down with the slower speed again. I almost wish there was a slightly slower speed also for a quick boost in the morning but I can manage without it.

Anybody who is anybody has heard of Clarisonic cleansing brushes, and Boots have definitely tried to cash in on the craze with this high street dupe. On the box, it promises to 'supercharge your cleanser for skin that feels twice as clean'. It recommends using this with the No 7 Melting Gel or Foaming Cleansers but I used this with my Lush Ultrabland which is my favourite cleanser of the moment because of the sheer ease with which it takes my makeup off my face. It's a good combination and is working well for me at the moment.

My skin is combination, and quite sensitive at that. I cannot use certain wipes or clothes because they burn my skin and leave it red and irritable, so I was a little worried about how my skin would fare with this brush. I am happy to report that I have not had any adverse reaction in using this- in fact my skin is soft and more radiant looking after starting this regime. It actually brings so much joy into my night time cleansing routine, and it was worth the money just for that!

Now I don't actually own the Clarisonic or Sonicleanse brushes so I cannot vouch for how this performs against the  others but standalone, I think it's a dandy product and has been a welcome addition to my skincare routine!

If anybody else tries this, would love to know what you think! Thanks for reading xx

  3. I like the sound of this, especially as £20 is about the max I would consider paying for a face brush. From what I have seen and read I don't think there seems to be much difference between this No 7 one and the more expensive alternatives. May treat myself next month. In the mean time I use a N0 7 exfoliating sponge with my cleanser and my skin feels so great afterwards, and it only cost £3.75 so well worth it. I did a review of it on my blog if you fancy checking it out.

  5. I think I need to invest in one of these! My make-up seems to cake up around my nose and I think it's down to the fact that I'm not cleansing my skin deep enough, I use toner, make-up remover etc but this may be the final push that my skin needs! I have quite sensitive skin as well so if it works for you then I should be ok. Great post!

  7. I did skin & eye/skin & cosmetics- holy hell the sponges that we use in it would take the skin off you! I like the idea of getting my make up off quick but I think it might leave me red/with broken veins-have you noticed anything like that popping up since using it?

    1. No I haven't noticed anything of the sort- no irritation yet thankfully, and works well with all my products. I don't find it exacerbates any of my dry patches or problem areas! So far so good :)

  8. This sounds really interesting I can't justify shelling out for a Clarisonic!

  9. Im having mixed views on this brush , on one hand i love it cause it does a lovely job and makes my skin lovely and soft, but on the other hand its very hard on the skin sometimes leaving it very red and sensitive. xx

    1. I haven't found that myself to be honest, I feel really polished and buffed up after using it and I have been applying my usual cleansers and moisturisers. Hope you've mastered it :)
