Make up collection insight # 2- Cheeks

hi everybody!

so as promised, i have part 2 of my make up collection overview posts, and the theme of this one is cheeks- incorporating blushers, bronzers, contours and cheek highlights. I love my blushers for sure- and i almost always leave it until last, I'll prep, put on foundation, eye make up and lip makeup before I even go near blusher- it's like my 'eureka!' moment, the celebratory final touch and then I'm ready for road.

collection includes Bobbi Brown, MAC, Beauty UK, MUA, Catrice, E.L.F., NYC, Stila, Essence, 17, NYX, Sleek, Barry M, Rimmel, No.7, Clinique, Isa Dora, St.Tropez

Powder or Cream?

I am more of a powder than a cream blish kinda gal, and I'm not hugely struck on contouring, it kinda falls way down my list of priorities for some reason! I have some E.L.F. Studio Cream Blushes and i use these irregularly but I only ever seem to reach for powder over cream where I have made a concerted effort to use cream and not powder, i guess my preference will always be powder! I love to apply with my MAC buffer brush, E.L.F. Studio blush brush or complexion brush and I always give brush a good tap when I pick up powder :)

Favourite Colours

My favourite colours are most definitely pinks, peaches and corals, I actually have a bit of a coral obsession now i think! I love E.L.F. Studio Blush in Candid Coral, No.7 blush in Coral and the E.L.F. mineral blush also in Coral. Peaches are defo a summer hit for me, and it's that time of the year where I am getting my peach groove back on- I had a lovely peach Beauty UK  blush in Baked Peach i think but i dropped it one day (and not from a great height- i am only 4ft11.5 inches tall) and it smashed into pieces in it's little pot and even though I do still try to use it, i can't do so without leaving a sprinkling of pesky peach dust all over my bedroom! I adore NYX powder blush in Peach and E.L.F. Studio Blush in Peachy Keen and I have a peachy Barry M blusher which was gifted to me at Christmas and I find myself scrambling around looking for it from time to time! My favourite colour is pink, and when I blush, I flushed pink, so that could be one of the reasons I love pink blushes so much! I love Pink Passion from the E.L.F. Studio line, I think applied lightly this looks like a really nice healthy flush of colour on the cheeks. I also love Sleek Pixie Pink, MACs  Dame and Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in Rose (again these are really really shimmery and shiny so I take caution with these!). I also have a few darker colours- First Flush by 17 is one of my fave colours, it's a kinda of cherry red, and Flamingo and Flushed by Sleek. My fave natural-ish blushes would have to be Catrice Multi Colour Blush in Riviera Rose and the NYX blush in Angel- both of these are really light and I like them for days when I wear barely there makeup. I guess overall it would be fair to say I prefer lighter more sheer blushes which are more easily blendable.

Blusher or Bronzer?

I would go for a blusher over a bronzer 9 times out of 10 really, I only lean towards bronzers if I'm already rocking a bit of a tan (tan straight out of a bottle unforch- when i sit in sunshine I go red, then pink, then back to white apart from an odd smattering of freckles on my cheeks despite fact i always wear foundation/moisturiser with an SPF!). My fave bronzers are prob Catrice bronzer which was part of Limited Edition Bohemia Collection- this is a matte bronzer and a nice light buildable shade, perfect for pale and fair skinned folk like myself, the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Nude (but this is very shiny!) and the E.L.F. Studio Bronzers in Warm and Golden (i also purchased the Cool  bronzer but this is defo one of my e.l.f. misses, i use the colours sep sometimes for contouring or the bottom right colour is nice enough blush on its own but overall, I wouldn't repurchase).

I haven't included pics of my depotted MAC blushes here, Sunbasque is pictured but I have Springsheen, Margin, Dame and Dainty in a sep palette, i depotted them a few months ago because my drawer was overflowing and I had already hit pan on them so it seemed to make more sense!

I hope you have enjoyed this little insight into my 'cheeks drawer', and if you have any questions about any blush in particular, or you would like to see swatches or request a look using one of these products or any other product I have featured, please leave a comment and I'll try my best. Thanks for reading the second volume of my collection, next one up is 'Lips' comprising of lipsticks, lip balms, lip pencils and lipglosses.

Toodle pip! xx
