e.l.f. Hypershine Lip Glosses

These hypershine lip glosses come in eleven different shades, of which I have purchased two to date.

What e.l.f. promise:
Hyper, glass-like shine infused with micro-mirror technology to reflect light. Conditioning shine lasts for hours.

(Top to bottom: Sugar Plum, Mauve)
 (L-R: Sugar Plum, Mauve)
(Brush tip applicator)

These glosses come in little 12.5 cm sticks and have brush tip applicators. Personally I am not a huge fan of a brush tip applicator on a gloss, it just doesn't really float my boat but different strokes for different folks, I just feel like it makes it a little more awkward to apply gloss on the go. The gloss itself comes out via a twist mechanism, you have to twist it about 100 times to get it going but that's not really a complaint. Even though the sticks themselves are about 12.5 cm long, there is only 3cm of actual product in the tube and it seems like a lot of wastage- not in a monetary sense because they are only $1/£1.50/€1.70, but just seems like a lot of plastic and we're all programmed to think of our carbon footprint these days!

The actual product itself is a really glossy, super shiny gloss, veering a little on the sticky side for my liking but definitely not unpleasant. It kind of tastes sweet but not really sure how I would describe it, it's not offensive at all but it's just not as pleasant as the minty hit from the luscious liquid lipsticks. The brush applicator allows controlled application but I would prefer a doe foot- however given the consistency of the glosses I don't know if that would have the same effect. The colours are nicely pigmented, even though the two I got are neutral-ish enough, they're definitely more than just a shiny coating on the lips when on, and they don't leave your lips dry and chapped after use. They last a few hours but could do with a few regular touch ups to keep the colour glossy.

Honestly, this is not a bad product by any stretch of the imagination, but I am just not as in love with this as I am with other lip glosses. It still represents amazing quality for the price.

Star rating:
I just think there is way too much packaging for such a little amount of actual product, and even though I do really like these, they wouldn't be my automatic go-to lip gloss.

Hope this has helped! x
